Have some fun!

“Every man seems to feel he has got the duties of two lifetimes to accomplish in one, and so rushes, rushes, and never has time to be companionable — never has time at his disposal to fool away on matters which do not involve dollars and duty and business.” - Mark Twain

You don’t need to be a beach bum to surf; you don’t need to live in a van to get lost in a national park. Work is important, incredibly important. But fun is important too, and there’s more to life than speeding it up.

Here are some things I love doing for fun: camping, traveling to see natural wonders (recent trips to Zion National Park, Big Sur, and the Grand Canyon were magical), following professional baseball, basketball and football closely, dominating in fantasy football, reading, hiking, playing guitar and piano, playing pickup basketball, researching family history and ancestry, going to concerts, kayaking, surfing, skateboarding, fishing, bird watching (157 species going strong!), playing chess, going to museums, walking around cities finding cool architecture, talking to strangers.

There’s a lot of fun out there, and one of my core life pursuits is to make time to go out and find it.
